Enterprise-grade authentication, built for everyone: Why Intellistack Streamline's security features stand apart

When you're building mission-critical workflows that handle sensitive business data, account authentication isn't just a checkbox - it's the foundation of trust between you and your users. At Intellistack, we've invested heavily in making Intellistack Streamline's authentication system both highly secure and remarkably easy to use. Here's what makes our approach different.
No SSO tax. Period.
Let's address the elephant in the room: most enterprise workflow platforms charge extra for Single Sign-On. We don't. SSO is a standard feature in Streamline, available to every customer.
Why? Because we believe security shouldn't be a luxury item. Organizations of all sizes deserve the ability to centralize their authentication through their existing identity provider, whether that's Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace, or any of the other providers we support.
But here's where it gets really interesting: we support 17 different SSO integrations out of the box, including Google Workspace, Okta, and Azure Entra ID. And unlike most platforms, we've built self-service setup capabilities that let your IT team configure SSO connections without needing to file a support ticket or schedule a call with our team.
Self-service setup changes everything
Speaking of self-service: Streamline includes built-in documentation and a testing mode right in the SSO configuration interface. Your IT administrators can walk through the entire setup process with step-by-step guidance specific to their identity provider, test the connection before going live, and troubleshoot any issues themselves.
This is uncommon in enterprise SaaS. Most platforms either require vendor assistance or provide minimal documentation, leaving your IT team to navigate complex SAML assertions and certificate exchanges on their own.
Adaptive authentication: security that thinks
Here's one of my favorite features: adaptive authentication. Instead of forcing users to complete multi-factor authentication every single time they log in, which is secure but annoying, Streamline intelligently assesses risk factors like device trust, location patterns, and login behavior.
If the platform recognizes you're logging in from your usual device and location, it cuts friction in the authentication process. But if something seems off, additional verification steps kick in automatically. It's the kind of smart security that protects your organization without frustrating your users.
This risk-based approach reduces authentication friction for legitimate users while maintaining strong security postures. Your team gets faster access to the tools they need, and you maintain compliance with security policies.
Built on rock-solid foundations
Under the hood, our authentication infrastructure is built on an enterprise-grade platform that maintains rigorous security and compliance certifications to help you meet your own regulatory requirements:
- SOC 2 Type II compliance provides the foundation for your security assurance programs
- HIPAA compliance supports healthcare customers who handle protected health information
- GDPR and CCPA compliance helps organizations meet global privacy regulations
- FedRAMP High Authorization enables government agencies to maintain the highest security standards
The platform protects against common attack vectors like SQL injection, clickjacking, and OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities. All communications use TLS encryption with HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to prevent man-in-the-middle attacks, giving you a secure foundation for your workflow automation.
What's available today
Streamline's current authentication capabilities include:
- Email and password authentication with strong password policies
- Multi-factor authentication via email or authenticator apps (TOTP)
- Single Sign-On through 17 pre-built identity provider integrations supporting SAML and/or OIDC protocols, plus custom configuration options for any SAML 2.0 or OIDC-compliant identity provider
- Self-service SSO configuration with built-in testing
- Adaptive authentication that reduces MFA prompts for trusted devices
- Support for users belonging to multiple organizations
- Role-based access control for managing user permissions
Secure API authentication for developers
For teams building integrations or automating workflows programmatically, Streamline provides robust API authentication through access keys. This system gives developers the flexibility they need while maintaining the security controls admins require:
- All access keys are automatically scoped to the generating user's permissions - no risk of over-privileged API access
- Users can generate and manage their own access keys directly from their profile page
- Admins have centralized visibility into all access keys across the organization
- Admins can revoke the ability for non-admin users to generate new access keys when tighter controls are needed
This approach strikes the right balance between developer productivity and enterprise security. Developers can self-serve their API authentication needs, while security teams maintain oversight and control over API access patterns.
Why this matters for workflow automation
You might be wondering why we're talking so much about account authentication in a workflow automation platform. Here's why it matters:
Workflows often connect to your most critical business systems:your CRM, your ERP, your databases, your internal APIs. They process sensitive customer data, financial information, and operational details. The authentication system is what ensures that only authorized users can access these workflows and the data they touch.
Moreover, in enterprise environments, workflows are often executed by external users - partners, contractors, vendors, or customers. Having robust, flexible authentication means you can safely extend workflow automation beyond your internal team without compromising security.
Enterprise features without enterprise hassles
The real innovation isn't any single feature - it's how they work together. Your IT team can set up SSO in minutes instead of days of back-and-forth with vendor support. Your users get the benefit of adaptive MFA without your security team needing to build custom risk assessment logic. Your compliance team can point to certifications and audit trails without expensive add-ons.
And because we've built this on modern authentication infrastructure, we can rapidly add new capabilities - like support for emerging authentication standards or new identity providers - without requiring you to rearchitect anything.
Looking ahead
We're continuing to invest in authentication and identity management because we know it's foundational to everything else Streamline enables. As we add passwordless options and advanced enterprise features, our core philosophy remains the same: enterprise-grade security shouldn't require enterprise-level complexity or cost.
Whether you're a small team just getting started with workflow automation or a large enterprise with complex identity requirements, Streamline's authentication infrastructure scales with you.
